World Kitchens Teriyaki Beef Jerky

World Kitchens claims right on the packaging that they are committed to bringing “the highest quality, finest tasting Beef Jerky for the best value”.  How does it stack up to their claims?

I have heard several customers compare products to World Kitchens beef jerky in other product reviews or general jerky talk (yes…I know talking about jerky in casual conversation is, at best, disturbing).  Usually what we hear is how good it is “for the money”.  I thought it was time to find out for myself.

This jerky can be had off of their website for $17.68 including shipping.  This is one of the lowest prices I have ever found one pound of beef jerky delivered to your door. A better price per ounce can be achieved by buying multiple bags to reach a free shipping minimum.  It can even be found at some national chain grocery stores like Walmart which saves you on shipping charges.  Either way, its one of the lowest priced jerky products I have found.  This jerky is made from solid strips of beef and comes in a resealable bag.  Resealable bags are important on bags over a few ounces…so it gets a thumbs up for that.

There are two things that stick out to me on this product:

  1. The packaging boldly states that the jerky is “Packaged in the USA”.  This generally means the product is made outside of the U.S. from non-U.S. raised beef…but to clarify, I called their Consumer Relations department.  A quick chat with them confirms the product is raised and processed in Brazil, shipped to the U.S. and packaged in the U.S.  There is an important point to be made here…there is a HUGE difference between being “Made in the USA” and being “Packaged in the USA”.  You can read more about this on our What makes good Jerky? page.
  2. The packaging claims “Natural Style”…I’m not so sure what that means.  Usually Natural refers to either its flavor (Natural can be synonymous with “Original” flavor) or the quality of the beef – meaning the cow was grass fed, raised in natural environments, and without growth stimulants of any kind.  I do not know of any naturally raised beef jerky products coming from Brazil…so instead of assuming…I called Cathy back in Consumer Relations.  She couldn’t give me an answer to either if the beef was raised naturally or to what the phrase “Natural Style” means…but she is going to check into it and get back to me.  ***update*** Cathy called back and said it referred to the fact that it is made from whole muscle…as opposed to being chopped and formed.  Thanks for the update, Cathy!

      • For around $20 shipped I would say its worth it. It's a hefty bag of jerky with a great taste and consistency.

      • Sweet and beefy. It has a nice sweet taste that is not too sweet. It's got a bit of saltyness to balance it out.

      • You can't argue the price at all! What first caught my eye was all of the white substance that I seen on a lot it, not sure if thats an artificial preservative or something to be concerned about. I'm gonna go ahead and give the overall value a good score even though the jerky lacks in several areas just because the price per ounce makes up for it. Another thing to note is that i do like the size of the pieces and how they are cut with the grain of meat. Makes for a decent snack, but ive had bett

      • Has a weird aftertaste for sure that lasts quite a while. You almost can't tell that it's Teriyaki flavoring even though the sweetness of the Teriyaki is evident. The taste isn't bad, but if you'd tried tons of jerky like i have then you too would probably consider this jerky average at best. Thats exactly what I'll give it.

      • The meat does have a "non-beef" consistency to it, like its not very quality at all. Probably made from cheaper cuts of beef. Even though it's a faint Teriyaki favoring, the ingredients appear to be powdered more than the average store bought jerky.

      • This jerky scores high for value because of the low price point. If your only concern is "how much do i get for my dollar"...this is for you. If that isn't your main purchasing decision, I think you will be disappointed.

      • It has a distinctive Teriyaki flavor...I don't taste the meat itself much at all. Not very salty with a touch of sweetness. The taste is not bad...but nothing to write home about.

      • Beef jerky made outside of the U.S. is always inferior to U.S. raised beef. It costs less to produce...that is why they use it. There weren't as many artificial ingredients as I expected but still more artificial preservatives and additives for my taste. There was alot of inconsistency in the piece sizes. Some good whole pieces were in the bag...but i'd say at least 25% of the jerky was smaller-than-bite-size-pieces to bacon-bit-sized shreds-if not for this, it would've scored higher in Q & V.

      • It has a good texture. Just the right amount of chewiness...but not overly moist. Thumbs up on this.

      • A whole lot of jerky in a resealable bag. Add to that a great price and that makes this a really good value. It's only downside is the quality of ingredients.

    • 33333
      • The teriyaki flavor is pretty good. But it completely covers up any beef flavor from the jerky.

      • They went with the cheap stuff when it came to ingredients. All powdered stuff and a lot of soy. Whats soy doing in my jerky? The meat itself is inconsistent. It's like they threw the cow into a shredder and out came the jerky.

      • The texture is probably this jerky's saving feature. It's nice and chewey. Moist, but not so much I have to have a napkin to eat it.
