Remington Trail Steaks – Honey BBQ Smoked Turkey

September 2nd, 2009

Another one of the many varieties of “steak snacks” courtesy of Remington Trail Steaks is that of Turkey. I know “turkey steak snacks” sounds a little funny, but bare with me on this one. Turkey snacks are the second most in demand jerky type behind beef and appeal to many people because of there nutritious value. The Honey BBQ Smoked Turkey snacks are a good representative of how Remington has taken a traditional jerky product and helped transformed it into a tender meat snack that apparently appeals to enough people to keep the lights on.

This all-natural turkey product is grown in America and is made from whole turkey breast with smoke flavoring, not to be confused with the smoking method. Even the ingredients are of the simple nature…in a good way that is. Things like honey, molasses, and garlic gives this snack food a unique identity unmatched by most flavors you’ll find. You combine that with the fact that Remington provides free shipping with every $50 order or more, it just might convince the an avid jerky lover to give it a try.

Each 2.88 package goes for about $13 shipped to your door. You can expect each bag to be vacuum-sealed and come with at least a 15-month life expectancy in the shelf.

So get out there and give these a try and come back to tell us what you think. We’re very curious to find out if Remington’s lives up to there claim as having the most tender meat snack you’ll ever eat.

      • sweetness really comes through as the honey really dominates your initial reaction when tasting it

      • Spice extracts and smoke flavoring takes a point a piece away from my rating on this one, turkey appears to be 100% natural and very fresh. this would be a great snack food for anyone on a diet or who is on the go a lot

      • very slippery, if that even applies to jerky products. this one is kind of different i thought because although it is very moist it's not as tender and pliable as i thought it would be, not tough by any means, just more so than i expected, good though

      • Pretty good value. Steak snacks are cheaper per ounce than jerky due to their higher moisture content. So comparing this price per ounce to jerky is apples and oranges (More like apples to bigger apples). But it tastes good...its made in the U.S. and doesn't have a ton of artificial stuff at a fair price. All good in my book.

      • Good taste. I am partial to turkey jerky and this fits the bill nicely. Good flavor although I don't taste much (if any) bbq. Sweet but not too sweet and the flavorings do not mask the taste of the meat.

      • Good quality. USA made and not loaded with preservatives...it does have some, however. That keeps it from getting 5 stars for ingredients. And the only higher quality the meat could have been is if it were free range.

      • Good texture. Thicker pieces but easily chewed through. It has a very "wet" feel to it...and your fingers get quite wet/oily...which is a thumbs down for me. Other than that...good.
