Remington Trail Steaks – Blazin Hot Smoked Beef

August 28th, 2009

Going off Remington Trail Steaks motto that “people like thick and tender WAY more than they like tough and dry”,  we decided to spotlight exactly what makes there cut of beef different from the rest. After-all you can’t go wrong with a company that offers a 100% satisfaction guarantee on all of their products.

Remington’s product selection hales right here from the good ole’ US of A…which is an important thing to look for when buying jerky. Also good to know is that Remington likes to coin the phrase “Steak Snacks” when referring to there product instead of “Jerky”.  This is because the moisture to protein content ratio is double the allowed amount for jerky.  These products are generally thicker and more tender than jerky.

The Blazin’ Hot variety may not be everyone’s cup of tea, but it’s enough to warrant an article for those who do (including myself). Natural cuts of beef spiced in a tumbler using natural ingredients such as salt, red pepper and garlic. This is for anyone leaning towards a more all-natural snack food to store away in their pantry.

These “steak snacks” as they refer to them retail on their site for $4.99 plus around $8.00 for shipping, bringing the total for almost 3 ounces to $12.99. That’s $4.33 an ounce.

Enough of the small talk, let’s get down to what really matters…what YOU the consumer thinks about it. Share your thoughts and leave out nothing to the imagination.

      • Overall...its a good meat snack. Personally, I prefer Jerky over kippered beef types like this. But out of all of the kippered beef products, this is one of the best i've had.

      • It definately has some kick! If you aren't into the spicy varieties...do yourself a favor and try something else. I'd prefer to taste a little more meat in a meat snack. I feel like the intensity of the flavor and the oilyness overwhelms the overall flavor. Good flavor for a spicy variety.

      • The meat seems to be of good quality...and it's made in the U.S. Thats the best kind of jerky there is. The use of artificial ingredients keeps it from getting 5 stars on quality. Still...pretty good!

      • The first thing you notice when you open the bag is how wet & oily it is. You have to wipe your fingers off when you are done. Pretty messy. Thumbs down on that. All of that stuff keeps it moist, though. Moister than most. Its thicker than traditional jerky but chews well.
