As you probably know by now, one thing that Jerky.com has managed to do well is make a variety of jerky types and make them full of flavor. Sticking to what they do best, the Turkey is not only grown and raised here on America’s farmlands, it’s natural whole breast meat with absolutely zero preservatives. The meat is also hand-cut and all of the ingredients are all-natural as well. Although it’s a little higher in sugar content than other jerky types because of the teriyaki flavoring it’s still a very high source of protein and is very lean…around 98% if you can believe that!

Since Jerky.com had two different bag sizes for this stuff and the 1/2 pound bag was cheaper per ounce I opted for that one because I’m a cheap-skate. The smaller 3 ounce bags retail for $9.99 and the ‘Big Pack’ as they refer to it goes all day for $18.99, remember though that free shipping always applies over there. I enjoyed my bag, but what about you? The product page on Jerky.com boasts a customer review rating of 4 1/2 stars out of 5, so it must be pretty good right??

Don’t let the size deceive you though. The Premium Pouches don’t cut any corners when it comes to a quality product. Get this…each piece is smokehouse hung and hand-cut, Buffalo Bills calls this meat a step up from their popular ‘Dead Meat’ packs. That’s evident in the price per pound between the two, but when you consider the extra time and man-power that goes into making a product like the Premium Pouches you can’t help but start to justify their price. Just like the ‘Dead Meat’, the pouches also come in 3 flavors, Teriyaki of course, Hickory, and Spicy. The Hickory is less than 3 grams of carbs per serving. You can’t go wrong there.

Retail of 12 – 1 ounce bags over at Jerky.com goes for $25.99 shipped to anywhere in the country, including APO and FPO addresses. How sweet is that?!

World Kitchens claims right on the packaging that they are committed to bringing “the highest quality, finest tasting Beef Jerky for the best value”.  How does it stack up to their claims?

I have heard several customers compare products to World Kitchens beef jerky in other product reviews or general jerky talk (yes…I know talking about jerky in casual conversation is, at best, disturbing).  Usually what we hear is how good it is “for the money”.  I thought it was time to find out for myself.

This jerky can be had off of their website for $17.68 including shipping.  This is one of the lowest prices I have ever found one pound of beef jerky delivered to your door. A better price per ounce can be achieved by buying multiple bags to reach a free shipping minimum.  It can even be found at some national chain grocery stores like Walmart which saves you on shipping charges.  Either way, its one of the lowest priced jerky products I have found.  This jerky is made from solid strips of beef and comes in a resealable bag.  Resealable bags are important on bags over a few ounces…so it gets a thumbs up for that.

There are two things that stick out to me on this product:

1. The packaging boldly states that the jerky is “Packaged in the USA”.  This generally means the product is made outside of the U.S. from non-U.S. raised beef…but to clarify, I called their Consumer Relations department.  A quick chat with them confirms the product is raised and processed in Brazil, shipped to the U.S. and packaged in the U.S.  There is an important point to be made here…there is a HUGE difference between being “Made in the USA” and being “Packaged in the USA”.  You can read more about this on our What makes good Jerky? page.
2. The packaging claims “Natural Style”…I’m not so sure what that means.  Usually Natural refers to either its flavor (Natural can be synonymous with “Original” flavor) or the quality of the beef – meaning the cow was grass fed, raised in natural environments, and without growth stimulants of any kind.  I do not know of any naturally raised beef jerky products coming from Brazil…so instead of assuming…I called Cathy back in Consumer Relations.  She couldn’t give me an answer to either if the beef was raised naturally or to what the phrase “Natural Style” means…but she is going to check into it and get back to me.  ***update*** Cathy called back and said it referred to the fact that it is made from whole muscle…as opposed to being chopped and formed.  Thanks for the update, Cathy!

Well???  What do you think of World Kitchens Teriyaki Beef Jerky?

The Western Cut Beef Jerky Slabs are one of my personal favorite items that we carry.  I frequently recommend them when people are looking for suggestions for things to try.  Buffalo Bills Western Cut Jerky is a more traditional style jerky than the Country Cut Beef Jerky.  It is a thin jerky and has a consistency that requires more biting and pulling than softer jerky products allow.   The Western Cut Slabs are just as they sound – big slabs of jerky measuring about 10″ long and 4-5″ wide (You can see the picture of a slab taken on a legal notebook for size reference below).  The Western Cut Jerky is also available in bite size pieces…which is simply the Western Cut Slabs cut into smaller pieces.  But there is something about having a big slab of jerky to eat from that is somehow more satisfying to me.  I think they are also easier to ration out.  With these slabs, I tell myself that I will only eat 1 slab.  With pieces…I usually don’t stop eating until its all gone.

The Buffalo Bills Western Cut Beef Jerky Slabs are $35.99 with Free Shipping, which is a large price tag for a single jerky item.  BUT…this is 15 slabs making it 1.4 lbs of jerky!  Bite size jerky pieces are all over the place, but slab jerky isn’t a common find these days.  So any jerky enthusiast will find these a novel change to what they are used to.  And they are available in 5 flavors: Original, Teriyaki, Black Pepper, Sweet & Spicy, and Cajun.
