Buffalo Bills – Western Cut Cajun Beef Jerky

September 10th, 2009

What better way to spice things up than to experience a Buffalo Bills mainstay since 1999. That’s right, it’s time to voice our opinion of the Cajun Western Cut beef jerky and explain once and for all the difference between the Western Cut and the Country Cut for all of you still scratching your heads.

Since it’s inception a decade ago, the Western Cut type of jerky by Buffalo Bills has proven that variety is the key. A product that was designed to appeal to a different market than that of it’s “sister jerky”, the Country Cut. Western Cut pieces (bite-size) differ in that they are sliced thinner during prepping, to achieve a dryer, yet still tender kind of jerky. A feat that many feel they have achieved on all 5 of the flavors they offer. Original, Black Pepper, Sweet and Spicy, Teriyaki, and of course Cajun. A spicy concoction of 3 different kids of peppers and some crushed chili for an extra boost. With 17 grams of protein per serving and only 90 calories, I can see why these solid pieces of beef have a loyal following. So ask yourself, are you a Western-Cut or a Country-Cut?

You can get your hands on a 2-pack of 3.5 ounce bags for $17.49, which includes free shipping. Boasting a shelf life of well over 4 months and convenient resealable bags, in my opinion there’s not a better choice for a snack food. But I’ll leave that up for you to decide and whether or not the Western Cut Cajun makes the grade.

      • the spices really came through and stayed on my tongue for a while, there seemed to be a number of layers of flavors and degrees of heat

      • the meat is excellent and very high quality however the nutritional facts show that there is 20 grams of calories from fat. this probably has to do with all the teriyaki sauce, wine, and such.

      • i'd prefer something that was a little more moist and thick, but the consistency more than made up for that. the cuts are thinner so i didnt taste the "meat" as much as usual, i would have preferred though that the pieces be a little bigger

      • At $17.50 for two 3.5 ounce bags isn't the cheapest stuff around...but the quality and flavor make it worth the money to me. Its definately one to try...especially if you like traditional jerky. Good traditional jerky is hard to come by these days.

      • This is my favorite flavor of Western Cut. Not too intense on the flavor...in fact, i'd prefer a little more kick to it...there is even a little sweet in it. Overall a great flavor.

      • U.S. made jerky from U.S. raised cattle...thats as good as it gets for meat quality. Some preservatives...but not much. That is the only thing holding this back from 5 stars on Quality.

      • Definately a traditional jerky. It has a dry, harder consistency to it...but not TOO dry at all. It chews well, too. This stuff is good to go in the Texture department.
